Plumis Automist Smartscan

A traditional sprinkler system sprays an entire area with water, soaking everything. Automist Smartscan identifies a potential fire and sprays pressurised and  vapourised water mist in the direction of a fire, thus maximising effectiveness and minimising damage.

Operates Faster than Traditional Sprinkler

With fire safety, every second counts.

The earlier a system initiates, the smaller the size of the fire. The smaller the fire, the easier it is to suppress or extinguish, minimising exposure to smoke, heat and toxic gases. Fire engineering research shows Automist can operate 2 to 14 times quicker than a concealed sprinkler. This is crucial, as every second counts, particularly in the room of fire origin for vulnerable people. Automist is activated by a ceiling-mounted combination detector which triggers a scanning infrared pyrometer which detects any increase in temperature.

The activation of Automist is controlled by an intelligent algorithm, optimised by a growing database of over 150 fire tests and real-life activation data collection.

Uses 10x Less Water

When a traditional fire sprinkler activates, it can produce 60 litres of water per minute, enough to fill a bathtub in 2 minutes (Automist by comparison produces 5.6 litres per minute of fine mist)!

Not only do fires trigger sprinkler heads, but accidental activation can also occur, especially in areas with high traffic flow or boisterous behaviour.

Automist is a dry pipe non-pressurised system which will provide the coverage you need without the risk of burst pipes. Unlike a wet pipe system, dry sprinklers are free of water until a fire is detected.

The additional benefit of this low flow requirement is that it can be connected to an existing water main. This avoids communal works, the need for tanks or upgraded water supplies.

Rapid approval for UK Building Regulations

Independent third-party fire testing at Exova Warrington Fire (under the required quality system in accordance with BS EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017), BSI Verification, a comprehensive DIOM, a track record of over 12,000 installations, and independent fire engineering assessments allow the person carrying out building works to demonstrate that the requirements of the regulations have been complied with and Automist is 'fit for purpose'

A retrofittable contemporary alternative to fire sprinkler

Plumis Automist has been designed with retrofit capability in mind. Since no tanks of water are required it is easy to retrofit.

Less Disruption -Heritage friendly

Automist Smartscan is very suitable for listed buildings and aesthetically sensitive builds. It is discrete and the install requires very little space and disruption.
